I never thought I would be able to purchase a home on my own when I was a single mother. But after paying rent in a town home for three years it happened! I purchased a home!
Purchasing a home on my budget, however, meant purchasing a home that needed some work. Luckily the work was just cosmetic. Here is a snapshot of the kitchen work. Paint does wonders and makes a space look completely different!
I had friends and family help repaint the entire house! There was wallpaper in almost every room! Yuck!
We knocked out the wall between my living room and kitchen to open up the area. It made it much bigger!
A year later I took on the task of painting my cabinets and replacing hardware. Paint can seriously make old look brand new! I think the cabinets are from the 70’s. They looked so sad! I’ve painted cabinets before and it is ALOT of work!
In the past I painted using a paint brush. This time I borrowed a paint gun from a friend thinking it would make the job easier. I was very wrong! A post for the cupboard painting process will be coming.
Next the light fixture was outdated. Just as paint can transform, so can new light fixtures! I purchased this one from Real Deals for around $80. It’s one of my favorite things in my house!
The clock on the wall was purchased at a yard sale for $3!
Some paint and this space looks so new, fresh, clean, and livable!

Oohh, cannot wait for the cupboard painting post. I have been wanting to paint mine white for a couple years. But procrastinating because I’m so unsure of the best way to go about it. Loving your blog.

Kitchen cabinets are super intimidating! I wish there were an easy way to go about it, but kitchen cabinets always take me much longer than I plan. Always worth it though!
