You want your dream wedding but can’t afford to spend thousands of dollars? I’m here to help! Honestly, it’s one day! Yes, it’s one of the most important days of your life but do you want to go in debt or have a family member go in debt to pay for it? Ridiculous!

If you follow me on Instagram, Facebook, or Twitter you may have already seen my posts where I show you affordable wedding DIY’s. If not no worries! I’m going to give a recap in this blog post, so scroll on through and I hope you find some wedding inspiration! Here are 7 wedding DIY’s for you!

All the pictures in this post are DIY’s with most of the supplies coming from yard sales, thrift stores, or friends (wine bottles).

1. Embroidery Hoops

2. Silk Flowers

All silk flowers. I resold them after wedding.

For flowers and greenery I would consider using silk flowers. Seriously though! Hobby Lobby frequently has 50% off sales and they have such a good selection. Even better is if you know someone with a business license who can buy from a wholesale store for cost (I used my business license to buy mine). I loved the way my flowers looked! I was able to resell most of my flowers after the wedding and the ones I wanted to keep, such as my bouquet, look the exact same as they did on my wedding day. So again, purchase silks and resell or repurpose them when you’re done!

3. Wine Bottles

If you want a nearly free decor idea ask around for empty wine bottles. You’ll be shocked at how many people you know with a dozen or so wine bottles collecting dust in their garage!

Here you see some spray painted or covered in ribbon. My favorite was using Modge Podge and fine glitter half way up the wine bottles. Fill with tiny pebbles to weigh them down and decorate with flowers, sticks, etc!

4. Vintage Windows

I see vintage windows for sale ALL THE TIME! Look on Facebook, classified ads, yard sales, antique stores, etc. I picked these up for $10 a piece. Don’t over pay for these, seriously. If you are paying more than $30 per window you are getting ripped off. If you look in the right places you can get old windows for a steal. In this case I some vinyl lettering on them and called it good. I like the old chippy white wood so I didn’t mess with them. After my wedding I hung one window above each night stand in my bedroom for decor. Another repurposed idea.

5. Reclaimed Wood

Reclaimed wood outdoor bar.

The frame of this bar actually started as my potting bench with a back on it and a shelf up top that we took off just for the wedding. We knew we wanted a bar and the potting bench had the perfect bones for the job. We used reclaimed old wood fence that I had stashed for over five years using bits and pieces for different projects. Luckily I saved all of it because it turned into this fabulous rustic outdoor bar! I love how many of these projects doubled for use later. It’s now on my patio again being used as a bar/table for outdoor entertaining.

6. Painted Books

A good alternative to a ring bearer pillow.

Here painted books were used as an alternative to a ring bearer pillow, but can be used anywhere as decor! Pick up some old books from your local thrift store or in this case a yard sale. Paint them with flat paint and sand them slightly for a worn look. Adorn them with lace, ribbon, twine, music sheets, or whatever! Aren’t they lovely?! They are also a very popular home decor item currently!

7. Wedding Canopy

I save the best and my favorite for last! This wedding canopy I made for a friends wedding a few years back. She was married in a location with a gazebo that I couldn’t wait to make this canopy in! Believe it or not this canopy cost maybe $20 to make! The streamers are $1 plastic table cloths! You would never be able to tell! I cut them lengthwise in half and tacked them up with a swoop to make them hang elegantly. Next, I made various sizes of tissue paper balls and tied burlap knots where I had to add in more table cloths. My friend supplied the amazing chandelier. It turned out more gorgeous than I had ever imagined!
